Why not just index our CRM too?

Because the post-sale story mostly never reaches CRM fields. It lives in calls, tickets, and threads — and in the connections between them. Indexing stale fields gives you faster access to stale fields. Noded builds the record itself from the work, then fixes the fields as a side effect.
