TL;DR: Gong and Zendesk connect natively in two distinct ways, both on any Gong plan: (1) create a Zendesk ticket from a call moment — highlight the transcript, share as a support ticket, and the ticket links to that spot in the recording; (2) ingest Zendesk Talk phone calls into Gong for conversation intelligence. Both are useful; neither is an automatic sync.
Unusually for this category, the Gong–Zendesk pairing actually exists natively — in both directions. The catch is that each direction is narrower than the phrase “Gong Zendesk integration” suggests. Here’s exactly what ships, per Gong’s docs.
Direction 1: call → ticket (sales hands support a moment)
Any team member can highlight transcript text or clip a snippet, then Share → Create a support ticket. The resulting Zendesk ticket links to that exact part of the call, so a support engineer hears the customer describe the problem in their own words — no telephone-game summary. Setup is light: a Zendesk API token, the token owner’s email, and your subdomain in Gong’s integration page.
Know what this is: manual, per-call, one-way. A human notices the issue and clicks. There’s no automatic detection, no ticket-status flowback into Gong, and nothing connecting the ticket to the deal it might threaten.
Direction 2: Zendesk Talk → Gong (support calls become coaching data)
If your support team takes phone calls through Zendesk Talk, Gong can import them as recordings for transcription, trackers, and coaching — register an OAuth app in Zendesk Admin Center, then add Zendesk as a telephony system in Gong. Documented limits: mono audio, no call disposition/purpose data, no short-call/attempt import, and backfill of 90 days at setup (30 on user changes).
What’s missing between them
Put both directions live and notice what still doesn’t exist: the account view. Sales calls generate tickets; support calls feed coaching; and no system knows that the account with three escalations this month is the same one whose renewal call last week mentioned budget pressure. The CSM finds out at the QBR — or after the churn. We’ve written before about why exactly this kind of unstructured signal is where churn hides.
That cross-system account story is Noded’s job: Gong and Zendesk both feed the Customer Context Graph, so tickets, calls, deals, and emails are woven into one living story per account — and the escalation-during-renewal pattern surfaces as a signal, not a surprise. Noded can also draft the Zendesk ticket from the call automatically, with account context attached, as a recommendation you approve. Where the native flows already fit your motion — a rep spotting an issue mid-call and firing a linked ticket is genuinely great — keep them; they cost nothing on any Gong plan.
FAQ
Can Gong create Zendesk tickets?
Yes — manually, from a highlighted transcript moment or snippet, on any Gong plan. The ticket links to that point in the call. There’s no automatic call-to-ticket sync.
Can Gong analyze Zendesk support calls?
Yes — Zendesk Talk calls import into Gong as recordings (mono audio, no disposition data, 90-day initial backfill).
Does ticket status flow back into Gong?
No — both native directions are one-way. Connecting ticket outcomes to account and deal context is what an aggregation layer like Noded adds.
